Takeshi Honda was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1958. He lives and works in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture. He was awarded Heizo Kanayama award in 1994. He won a scholarship from Agency for Cultural Affairs for Japanese Government Overseas Study Program and studied in New York, USA in 1999. In 1999, his works were exhibited in Drawing Center, NY, and Minneapolis Museum. In 2013, his work was presented in two persons exhibition in Iwate Museum of Art. In 2017, he held solo exhibition at Kakegawa Ninomaru Museum, Shizuoka.
His work is found in public collections including Iwate Museum of Art, The Japanese Ministry of Culture and Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto.
