MEM is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Shigeo Gocho Part 2 KODOMO -children-.

Shigeo Gocho (1946-1983) produced three photography compilations, Days, Self and Others, and Familiar Street Scenes, as well as one art book during his short lifetime. His deceptively plain-seeming works continue to captivate generations of viewers for their unique aesthetic sense. Gocho has an unusual eye for the moments in everyday life when it becomes difficult to distinguish between oneself and others.
For the 30th memorial year of Gocho’s passing, both a new edition of Familiar Street Scenes and KODOMO -children-, a new compilation of Gocho’s works, will be published. To celebrate the release of these books, MEM will present a two-part exhibition of Gocho’s work. Part 2 showcases 25 gelatin silver prints from his various photo book collections including Days, Self and Others and Childhood, along with the most recent publication KODOMO -children-.
